Hounds and Habits is a blog dedicated to helping friends find books to experience life’s possibilities, food to bring friends to the table, and crafts to transform houses into homes — all with my trusty hounds, Lady and Ashley.
I adopted my two dogs, Lady and Ashley, on July 13th, 2015 from the Humane Society. When I adopted the hounds, the staff at the Humane Society warned us that they would never be able to learn the sit command due to abusive past experiences. Thanks to positive reinforcement techniques from trusted books and online references, both Lady and Ashley sit, lay, stay, come, and go to their crate on command. Practicing new skills is one of their favorite things to do!
As far as my interests go, I’ve always loved cooking meals from scratch; cooking out of a box is just another chore. I read a lot of young and new adult fiction books as well as some nonfiction here and there. You’ll be hard pressed to find a popular fine art or crafts skill I’m not interested in, but I find crocheting and sewing are very accessible by blog posts so that’s mostly what you’ll find here.
After living in Canada for four and a half years on a study permit, I’ve moved back to the U.S. where I was born & raised to reconnect with family & friends and to establish my career.
Not sure where to start?
